How do you find the rental vacancy of an area?

There are many different method of calculating rental vacancy; but for our purpose we will use the method employed by SQM research.

SQM research;

• Tracks a unique property ( unique property is defined as a property listing with a valid property address) on some of the major real estate websites for 30 days
• The data tells us the chance the property would still be listed as "open" after 30 days.

Data and method does vary depending on the company and site you use.
